Scarborough is a place of history and coastal energy. Meadpoint came to us with a clear vision: to create more homes, better suited to the suburb’s growth and diversity. We collaborated closely with UK-based Howells to leverage their extensive Build-to-Rent experience, blending their global knowledge with our local understanding of Perth’s coastal character. The building’s innovative pinwheel form wraps around a central core, dispersing the mass and giving every apartment light, air, and a fresh perspective. Its sculptural curves reflect the timeworn natural landforms and Art Deco history of Scarborough, while robust materials stand up to the coastal climate without fuss.

This is a design that is both worldly and intimately local, offering a forward-looking housing model that is tailored to Perth’s changing needs and captures a contemporary beachside lifestyle. Our design was not about creating an insular world, but one that encourages residents to connect with the local community, bolstering local trade and adding to Scarborough’s vibrant character.

This is density that works for people. The ground level features a new pocket park and communal seating, creating a welcoming and green urban space. Small, considered moves make a big difference, such as bike lockers and shared EV options that support sustainable living. Balconies provide shade and space to pause, while thoughtful layouts prevent apartments from sharing walls with stairs or lifts.

This project is a quiet, confident addition to the suburb’s story, designed to be practical and considered. It offers high-quality, affordable housing options for a diverse community, encouraging residents to connect with local businesses and truly become part of the vibrant Scarborough lifestyle. Every decision centred on the value, comfort, and livability of the resident’s at-home experience, proving that impactful features can exceed expectations without the luxury buzzwords.
